What is the Youth Center? The Seward Youth Center is non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Middle School youth in Seward. We are open for after school attendance from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We sponsor Friday Fun Nights once a month throughout the school year. We also need volunteers to help set-up and work our fundraisers. Volunteers will have interaction with Middle School youth which should be in a positive mentoring manner, while encouraging fun and excitement, as well.
What is the Afterschool Program? The Seward Youth Center (SYC) is committed to enriching today’s youth and empowering tomorrow’s leaders by giving them a place to belong. The Afterschool Program provides opportunities for youth to develop talents and skills to their fullest potential by providing a safe, clean, healthy, drug-free atmosphere to enhance and encourage social interaction with peers, as well as learn, grow and develop life-long skills. The Afterschool Program’s daily activities include a diverse array of activities such as arts and crafts, science experiments, team games, field trips, and much more. SYC is able to conduct our Afterschool Program thanks for our active partnerships with the Seward Middle School, Concordia University, local businesses, community organizations and energetic volunteers.
What are Fun Nights? SYC hosts Fun Nights one Friday a month for Middle School Youth. Fun Nights are filled with activities from games to dancing and everything in between. Chaperons for fun nights as well as activity helpers are needed to make Fun Nights successful.
What are SYC Fundraisers? SYC is a non-profit organization that is funded by private donations. We hold four major Fundraisers each year; Father Son Outdoor Adventure, Mother Daughter Spa Night, Mother Son Amazing Race and our biggest fundraiser the Daddy Daughter Date night. Volunteers are needed to help with the activities, set-up and clean-up for our fundraisers.
